Time has just flown by… I kept being distracted with pressure cleaning the terrace, paths and driveway… met with people and their pets, enjoyed life and did not really notice how I let my activity here slide a bit… well I actually let it slide a lot.
Bummer… Having a bad conscience about it, did not really improve the situation. But well… I’ll improve 😊
.
Today we went to the forest behind #rheinfelden at the hospital to take a hike. It was pretty warm, but the dogs enjoy new places… All these new impressions and smells. Was a bit disappointed to leave my camera at home. There are definitely some really nice spots for pictures 😊
So here is an older serious face Ninja, hope you like it 😊😊
.
Now that summer is about to come I’ll probably end up posting a bit later as I spend the afternoons outside or taking nap 🤣😴
But I will do my best to return to posting daily and to catch up with messages.
Also I want to make some videos, do you have some suggestions?
.
Wish You a happy weekend.

With wolfdogs it is not easy to find a place that you can trust to properly take care of them.
Their pack is their world and being expelled is one of the worst punishments.
Some will panic, be stressed or become grumpy/destructive as they do not understand ‚its just for a holiday‘. Their pack s everything…
If you factor in that they are timid and may not even like to be touched by others, it does not make it easier.
Nikhita, the pretty wolfdog in the back, is such a dog. It was difficult to find someone to take care of her. Initially the owner wanted to abort the first meeting because there was no faith that it would work out.
Fortunately Nikhita loved Ninja at first sight and since Ninja trusted me, I had a huge advantage.
Nevertheless it was – the first time – quite difficult. She was restless, constantly trying to find a way home during the 3 weeks.
The second time I took care of her was a lot calmer and she enjoyed, being with us.
She is such a sweet soul and I would sure love to meet her again.
.
Ninja is an opportunist. I am pretty certain he would miss me, but he would also realize that someone is taking care of him and would try to fit in.
The amount of people I’d trust to take care of him is pretty short though.
.
Do you have a place where your dog can stay, if you need to separate for a few days? I always said, that I would not need anyone, took him out even with an broken arm and wrist. But last year, when I had to stay at the hospital I was so happy for Hilde’s and Frank’s help ❤️

We often have visitors. Tomorrow friends from Instagram come to visit us. We are cleaning the house and the outside to make a good impression 😊😊
.
I like it when people put some effort into meeting us. For one it is a lot easier to me and my autism and it does show they really care to visitus.
We already met in Waltrop a few weeks ago, where they drove an hour just drink a coffee with us. Now they cross Germany to meet us and stay a few days. I hope they will enjoy the time here with us.
We have been so busy cleaning the house and the outside. After the winter there is just so much dirt on the balcony and the path… There are also plants coming out between the tiles that need to be taken out 😊
I do not mind, I like to focus on things and am happy when it looks more beautiful as it already does 😊

Wolfdog owners are a small community in Europe. If you want to meet up similar minded people, you are going to have to take longer trips.
.
Here we met up at the Cauma lake in in Switzerland.
.
There were actually more dogs than you can see here. You can see a baby Hadez and Kaihu from @kaihu_und_hadez and there is Lupo and Ely from @indira_lupo_ely_wolfdogs
I will put up some pictures in the story.
.
The point I was getting to is that usually a bunch of people gathers up, even when we are walking in small packs.
But even if you can’t see us, you can always hear us.
It is so fun, you are bursting with joy to hear this live.
.
Swipe right to see Ninja’s and Hadez’s reaction to playing the video 🤣
.
I am looking for our next packwalk 😊😊

The sunset here are breathtakingly beautiful.
Especially when it has a few clouds and the sun peeks through the gaps.
It is so dramatic… The whole houseflies in Orange in the evening and sometimes you find yourself staring towards the sunset over Basel.
If you look closes you can see the iconic buildings of the city code by.
I wanted to make a picture like this for a long time. This sunset looked especially dramatic and I wanted to show Ninja looking towards Basel.
.
But does he really? You can see part of his eye, and his nostrils… It gives the impression that he looks towards the city. In fact however, Ninja looks towards the camera.
It reminds me of those optical illusions that I loved as a kid. „Do you see an old woman or a Young woman?“… „which line is longer?“… „Which circle is darker?“
I am sure You have seen them or paintings from Escher with the impossible objects… I love when something in a picture is not what it seems at first glance.
.
What did You see? Ninja looking at the camera or to the distance?

We have been to the Black Forest the past days. Usually we drive well paved and wide highways… But not this time… We chose to use small and tiny roads through the hills.
The costs to maintain the road were too high, so the County shut arts of it off.
It is very twisty with rocks on one side and the descent to the wild river at the bottom secured by a row of stones that look like ancient tombstones.
How I loved this… It reminded me of those little roads that are only known to locals in my home area… Just even a lot more picturesque. I have planned to stop to make some pictures ’soonish‘. It’s the kind of ‚lost place‘ Ninja would fit right in.
He has been such a good boy, I trained him again, which I have not done for some time… attention, treats and happiness… Ninja loves it as well.
I was asked what we use to prevent ticks… We live in a risk area and Ninja gets like 4-5 ticks a day, without treatment. Using natural remedies, like cocnut oil or fennel flower ( nigella sativa ) oil ( and lots of other alternatives ) we went down to maybe 2 ticks a day or 0.5 if it was cooler.
We tried lots of natural remedies, but as a dog of our dear friends died of Babesiose I chose to use chemical means to repel and kill ticks.
This was amazing, we had Iike 3 ticks in a year. To me it is the lesser of two evils.
.
By the way, I would never just abandon Ninja. A TV-Show that encouraged many people to get Nordic dogs kind of condoned leaving Your Easter behind. It just shows that they have no idea at all about the character of these dogs. To me that was worse than Ninja Assassins coming-out of nowhere after the most stupid battle tactics of the world failed… Don’t leave your dogs behind, they love You ❤️ and You mean the world to them.

The mood in darker parts of the forest, when a ray of light breaches through the branches and lights up small parts of the thick forest is one of my favorites. I love how Ninja fits right into the scenery and at the same time pops out.
This is Ninja’s face when 20 yards further goodies are being given out. It is the „I stay here -because I am a good boy – but I’d really prefer to be get some treats over there, too“-face
We had been in the forest taking pictures for friends doing bikejöring and trailing as well as dummy-training pictures. I took the opportunity to put Ninja into this beautiful spot.
Hope you are having a great time, enjoy the weekend 😊

Usually I try to frame Ninja in greens, yellows, shadows or snow… but I think he also fits the blue frame.
This picture has been taken top down the bank slope at the river Rhein, this is why the background is all filled in blue.
It is rarely that we can see the river Rhein aus blue as this, but I guess it was just less muddy than usual.
.
We spend the morning doing bike-jöring and with cani-cross… Frank on foot and I was lazy 😋
The dogs were not much motivated to do much though… The first 2km were allright, the had fun but eventually they slowed down and stopped to sniff all the time… The tow line got caught up a few times and I had to brake hard to avoid the leash getting eaten by the wheel.
They enjoyed the tour anyhow and they know that the always get something delicious after the pulling. Today we had fresh smelly rumen for them.
.
We try to make the best of it as soon we will have to stop the sports. It was already 15°C in the morning and if the dogs had not blown their coats we would not have taken them to pull.

Ninja is clearly enjoying spring. He still has a lot of undercoat for these warmer days, but he is well into shedding now.
Basically everywhere is fur… one hair of Ninja’s Top Coat made it below the protection glass of my smartphone ^^
You open a fresh glass of Marmelade, boom… dog hair…
Sometimes it is really puzzling how this can happen…
At the moment as soon as You touch Ninja and pat him a little you will see little plushes of dog hair everywhere.
I think it is what always bothered me the most of all of having a husky… I was told that they blow their coats twice a year, but I clearly underestimated the amount of shedding. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ninja, his quirks and can live with all the hair… But if I had to put it into an order, it is the shedding that bugs me the most.
He is so sweet and the borders between the packs here blur more and more… Hadez greeting me a lot, Ninja greeting Frank, even Roja seems to enjoy my company nowadays… You know… Not just knowing, „Michael is here“, but she is asking for cuddles and affection… Slowly starts even obeying to me.
Same goes for Ninja he twists and turns, gives paws for Raphaela and Frank just as much as he does for me.
