Before You say that I am a mean person… Yes, I am teasing Ninja here!
But… Let me elaborate. Ninja loves to go outside.
Whenever he realizes that we are going for a hike, Ninja will dash to the door… Look at my hand, look at the door knob, look at my hand and then the door knob, etc…
Ninja used to never listen at all when he was this excited… It required a lot of training to even have him hold position when we were about to leave the house, or when he had to wait for his food, or to walk heel outside, or stay at a spot outside etc…
So the actual reason I do this, is to have him train his impulse control… He wants more than anything in the world to go outside, but due to the training decides not to rush to the door and wait. Instead he comes towards me, obviously with the perfect „let’s go!“ expression on his face. He is really just waiting for the „release“ of the „come here“-command.
Finally I let him go and reward him with what he wants most… Go hike.
Yeah, it is not a cool picture… But it is a nice example from our daily routines.

As You may have seen in our live video we have been visiting our friends @indira_lupo_ely_wolfdogs in Austria this weekend 😊
.
It was great to meet Indira and Christian again. So much time had passed since the last time. They are amazing people and have amazing dogs. Lupo and Ely 😊
.
Lupo has a great character and it was nice to be able to pat him again.
Then there is Ely, there is not much missing to a full wolf 🐺 So I had a lot of respect and was a bit scared a few times 😂
Ely sensed my insecurity and replied with his own and tested himself out 😂
.
It was a great experience. Ely is very open and loves to be cuddled. He is not shy at all… Just plain amazing very high content wolfdog.
.
Lupo is a a sovereign open mid content wolf dog and the very best foster father… Ely is 4 years old and Lupo Takes care of the training, acts like he is the father of Ely. This was really interesting to observe…

Always on the road… or as in this case on the rail 🐺🚆

Ninja is always so happy when we travel by train. He loves the area I live in, but as soon as he realizes we are walking towards the railway station he stats the zoomies. He states to hop in circles, tip on his legs and wag his whole body left and right and smiles all over his face.
.
In Germany it is allowed to bring dogs to public transport, if you use a muzzle. Usually it is accepted to take the muzzle off, once the ticket inspector realizes that the dog is harmless and well educated. Sometimes they do not even notice that Ninja is with me. I usually reserve 2 seats next to each other, so Ninja can lay below the seat.
He is such a patient dog in the train 😊 I do not even need to tell him to lay down… Ninja just crawls below the seats and naps…
When we drive to Northern Germany it takes 10 hours by train… I do get restless after 4-5 hours, but Ninja is so relaxed and does not bother…
He knows we are going to do something fun and that is what he is patiently looking forward, to 😊

He is going to have a few really nice days… Same hopefully goes for You, crossing my fingers 😊😊

3 years ago we had our first premium shooting with a photographer in Northern Germany.
.
He needed pictures of a wolf you looking dog in different environments and I could provide them, except for a prairie pictures.
We were invited to travel to Emden and made several really nice pictures.
It was the first time I saw someone working with a reflector.
.
Reflectors reflect sunlight back to the subject. For example here, a normal picture against the sun would have resulted in an overly dark Ninja. We used a reflector on the left side of Ninja, which is why Ninja’s face is a bit unevenly lit at the left side.
.
One trick to make Ninja look more wolf is to have him look towards the sun. He will squint his eyes together, the pupils will be very small and the Iris will be very light and thus emphasized a lot…
Using the reflector has the same effect without him having to face the sun.
There is also a very nice catch-light 😊😊

Ninja did his serious face here really good, I could hug him all day for it 🤗🐺

Even at foggy and rainy days Ninja looks happy, when we are outside.
It is a huge motivation, when you have someone at your side that is so eager to get out, no matter the weather. I think the only weather he does not like is pouring rain… Then he tries to avoid muddy spots in the woods, does not stray even a bit aside the path…
A midnight pee will be as short as needed without sniffing or listening towards the woods 😂
On the other side, once he is really wet he does not mind the water anymore…
.
Fortunately it is not pouring down, just the sky is covered with clouds and it is moist… Ninja does not mind as you can see… He looks so happy and excited… I love pictures, where You can see Ninja’s teeth, just a tiny bit 😊

A horse ran by on the other side of the flood plains at the riverside and Ninja was curiously observing the situation. It looks so beautiful when he focuses on something…

Ninja has a very slim but large chest. You can see right away that he is made for running, with all the air that fits into these huge lungs.
.
Ninja loves to run and thus is a good way to reward him doing something right.
.
I have some videos of Ninja running… He looks so fast, but I have only seen him run a few times at true full speed.
He usually reserves some power in case it is needed… For him there is no reason to run a lot faster than e.g. the dog chasing him… Just a step ahead is enough for him… If needed he can just speed up and be off again.
.
Ninja is really skinny under all this fluff… it is all because of the undercoat, which keep him warm in winter.
Hadez has already changed his coat and looks all skinny, ready for spring, while Kaihu and Ninja still need to start changing their fur.

So many things to do… while at the end of the day you wonder what you have accomplished 😂
.
You do something here and there and all of a sudden it is becoming dark and you can’t but think about the work that still lies ahead… I have such a bad conscience about the probably 500 messages here alone I still have to answer and really wish the days would be longer.
So I try to find at least an hour each day to answer messages, before they expire.
It seems as if there is no end to it and I want to apologize for being unable to catch up at the moment.
A lot of very heartfelt and personal messages arrived when I talked about my Asperger Diagnosis… and I feel bad that I have been unable to properly reply, to most of them yet. I just want to tell you that I really do appreciate every single message and intent to reply in time.
.
Even Ninja came a bit short the past days, I’ll upload his „you are still at the computer/phone“-stare in a story after I am done here. He does it more proficient than any woman in my life ever could 😂
He is always patient and eventually come to lay aside me till I am done.
When I turn the Monitor off there is a little beep. This is Ninja’s sign. he will instantly get up and hop right into the bed and ask for some cuddles 🤗🐺❤️

Sometimes Ninja has this kind facial expression and I love when he looks at me like this.
No expectations, no demands just happy to be out there together.
Together we enjoy the spring conquering nature… The warm sun rays on a cold morning, birds chirping and bees trying to find something to eat.
It is a tough life for them at the moment. Be nice and give a 🐝 a spoon with sugar water to eat so they can gather some strength and pollinate the trees… and we will get some delicious food 🍎🍐🍒🍓

I was struggling with my server the past days… An update killed of my Operation System and prevented access to pretty much everything.
I worked long hours on this, without finding a solution.
Last night at 2:00 I had an idea how to fix it but was to tires to do it right away… It was good, this morning I was able to fix things and finally be able to access my messages again.
Phew… I lost all messages sent from last Friday till this night but everything else is back 😊😊
.
Now we will enjoy this beautiful spring day after being glued to the house for the past days ( it was storming )
.

Dental Care .
Ninja often gets chew treats and bones to keep his teeth clean. But as Ninja grew older tartar started to build up on his large canines.
Slowly it became a problem. The tartar does not only build up on the visible part of the teeth, but it creeps under the gingival where it is no longer visible, keeps growing and may cause serious issues.
.
Last year I tried a product from a German company to soften up the tartar so it could be brushed away. I tried it with my old dog Akiak and it worked very well.
Ninja however refused to eat for a few days after each treatment and I stopped giving it to him.
.
We already had amazing experience with VETtrust in Basel, 🇨🇭 and decided to give Ninja into the skilled hands of VETtrust’s dental care department in Basel, the most modern vet clinic in Switzerland.
.
There are multiple advantages to a treatment at vet clinic: – X-Raying
3 years ago Ninja chipped his tooth while playing with another dog and blood filled the tooth, we could check if there was a fracture.
Also oftentimes you cannot see if there are already infections below the gingiva and a superficial treatment may not be enough
– skilled Veterinarians
A specialized vet will have additional training in his field of expertise and a lot more experience. Other specialized vets can easily be consulted within the clinic.
– anesthesia
prior anesthesia special examinations take place in order to adjust treatment for each dog
An anesthesia specialist will be present for all of the treatment

Ninja is already feeling a lot better and the results are amazing. Great to see his canines white, clean and healthy again.

Soon all the dried up grass will green up again. I can feel spring around the corner… and am looking forward to it 😊😊

Ninja spends more time outside… Yes he is a husky and loves it outside in winter, but his first two years living outside with his old pack, before I got Ninja 6 years ago, made him cherish the warmth of a comfortable and cozy house 😊😊
.
It has been 6 years ago that I brought Ninja into my life 🎂
.
I saw him advertised on Facebook. Sadly Esther’s husband, the previous owner, had passed away and she needed to slim down the amount of Huskies. Alone, even as a musher, the 20ish Huskies would simply be too many to take properly take care of.
She decided to let the best huskies go, in hope they would stay with their new packs and not get passed around as it sometimes happens with difficult dogs.
.
I recall applying for dogs in shelters and difficult situations for a good year prior… I was declined all the time, sadly.
No house, no garden, no money… But I live in a forest and have a lot of time, which is how I am able to take all these pictures…
.
Then I saw Ninja on Facebook and knew at once that I wanted him… He did not look this pretty on the pictures and I was desperate and put all my heart and emotion in a letter of introduction…
.
Esther wanted to see me and have her dogs check me out… I was crazy nervous… Train, meeting and staying with unknown people to get evaluated… But somehow I managed and spend a few days helping out with stuff… Think we emptied some shacks of old tools and cleaned them up….
Esther was nice when the dogs signaled that I was all right 😂
.
I am not eloquent enough to properly express all that Ninja brought into my life… He is the best companion I could have wished for… Yes Ninja is pretty, but at the same time Ninja is so much more… He helped me open up with people, helps me Go tomplaces I have not been before, he never strays from my side and loves me at least as much as I love him.
.
