We have visitors. The guys from @dogs.media & @lovewolfdogscommunity_ came to visit us yesterday and will stay till tomorrow.
It is already the second time we met. It is often very fun to meet people you got to know on the internet, especially if you share the same interests.
We started growing our pages together about 2 years ago and greatly benefit from each other.
It is nice to put some faces to these nicks 😊
Wish you all a happy weekend and a lot of fun 😊😊

A different point of view. This is the log Ninja jumped over to get to yesterday’s tree trunk.
I was looking forward to see this picture. If you look close, you can see that the dead tree Ninja stands upon is the foundation for new fir trees, that grow out of it. Circle of life.
I am often amazed how nature manages these things… It seems as if there is always a way… if you get that reference.
Many people ask how I train my dog, but seem unhappy when there is not a single magic trick that solves all the problems. Or when they realize that I spent years training with Ninja… years of hand-feeding, years of positive reinforcement and marker training… that you need to teach new tricks in small steps for a dog complex things… that the first steps were simple to show Ninja that I am interesting, that I can help him.
I do not judge anyone because of this… I was the sane… I recalled how much it hurt my ego when a trainer said „You are boring for your dog!“ With my previous husky many years ago.
So I tried showing Ninja that I am fun, that I am always there for him and that he can rely on me. That was and is the base of my training.
When he comes to me, I stop what I am doing and give him a moment of attention… I do not shoo him away just because I am tired, busy and give him a bit affection… and then I spend these 5 minutes a day with training… yes they were a struggle at the start. he did not want to and I did not want to do it either… but we kept at it… day after day… week after week and suddenly it became fun for the both of us… and now I am super happy to have overcome my laziness and am proud that we have become such a great team

🐺🐾🐾🌲🏠🌄
.
It is at the end of the valley. The wanderers have left, not even farming animals are up here anymore.
We had been hiking the afternoon and met not a single person. Simply the hut at the other side of the valley seems occupied as we can see their large campfire.
I let Ninja run here off-leash, even on the main hiking trails, in the middle of the forest, on the meadows and in the riverbed.
.
It is Night as I write this and even in the night with fresh deer poop and reflecting eyes that observe us out from the forest Ninja won’t leave my side.
I have been out looking for the Milky Way… While it must be a dark and clear night in Mainz to get a rough idea where the Milky Way is located, it is brightly visible here… I can’t put it to words how beautiful our night sky is, without light pollution.
Germany is so densely populated. Behind every hill is at least a settlement and most of the time the next town will cast their lights into the sky.
To me the difference is breathtaking… I stood a while in awe, listening to the noises… the waterfall, the water of the creek in the valley below, sound of hooves softened by moss, where I had seen the eyes moments before. As my eyes adapt to the dark I recognize Cassiopeia and Pegasus. Wow, inbetween Andomeda visible with the naked eye. Beautiful ✨
I must have stood there 5-10 minutes… before my thoughts returned to earth… a wet nose at my hand, checking what I was up to.
We spent the evening at the table drinking tea and warming up at the hot stove playing Skip-Bo 😊😊 (a card game)
.
I bought some high value treats for Ninja in order to make some nice action shots tomorrow on the meadows in front of the hut.
.
Here is no internet… I walked quite a bit around the mountain to give you the positioning story video of Ninja. If You haven’t seen it, it is worth to take a look.
Just a random spot, in a place we have never been before, full of wildlife. I do not stage these things 😊
.
No internet means I can’t write or reply to messages or comments. would be nice if you answer questions while I am gone.

Another beautiful side of autumn, warm golden hour… it is not just the light that is golden, but also the grass and leaves… I think this makes the golden hour more beautiful than in any other season.
You can see that Ninja approves… he strolls happily through the meadows and enjoys to sniff here and there for animal trails.
There are a lot of fruit trees in the Gemarkung, and many of the plums have fallen to the ground… Ninja likes to sniff these and about one each tenth tree he likes to eat 😁
We are having guests, so I’ll make it short today. Wish You a happy Sunday and a good start into the week.

The days of oppressive heat are over. It is slightly cool in the shade but the sun still spreads its warmth which feels especially nice on the cheeks.
The green leaves have turned yellow and some are already brown… winter is coming 😁
Just here at the riverside many leaves are still green, maybe because the trees here did not suffer from the draught.
Ninja enjoys this weather, dashes around for no reason but to have fun and takes an extended sunbath at the moment.
I am using the time to edit some pictures and answer messages. This picture stopped me though… Ninja with his great sovereign expression. At first I captured this face on a snapshot and it took me half a year to recreate it… until eventually I realized what made this expression so special and step by step taught him to look this way. While it is easier to capture now, it is still visible if he does the expression on command or by himself – at least I can see the difference. I love the expression and have the urge to go outside and cuddle him right now… But I also do not want to disturb his sleep.
Last night I cuddled him and he fell asleep in my arms… it was such a rare and happy moment. Usually Ninja leaves after 20-30 minutes or when he wants to sleep. This time, he stayed and it was so touching and relaxing… I feel asleep a few minutes later, too…
Enjoyed this moment a lot, despite waking up with a paw in my face 🐺🐾😴⁉

Here is the next lesson of Ninja facial expressions. Ninja the chick-magnet.
This is a throwback. 2 years ago we spent several days with the beautiful Kalisha. Ninja loved the attention he got from Kalisha and also had a mating with Davana, a black wolfdog. He also met his old love Blue Jade and all where crazy about him… So Ninja was extremely confident and this is what you can see here… at least I can see it 😊
.
His fur is still wet from dashing over the beach with Kalisha… and I got many really nice action pictures, some of which are in the feed below. They are my only beach pictures, should be really easy to find 😊
.
We had workers at the house that cleaned the water pipes from the roof. Some roots grew into the pipes and they were clogged.
In a bit we will get visitors with their wolf dogs… curious how they will be and if we can let them together…
.
I might film or show life, it if they are ok with it 😊

This is Ninjas submissive expression, his ears are flapped back almost all the way and his head is lowered.
He is not afraid or anxious, it is when he feels caught… e.g. sniffing after those boars that he was not allowed to follow or e.g. when I have to call him a third time while he was busy sniffing some tree.
„It is all good, no worries I am on my way!“
.
Yesterday I had a long post about our bikejöring activity in the morning and how Ninja got peed on by another dog. How it is not really needed to bathe a husky as they have self-cleaning fur, how they stand up when it is dry and just shake it off and that there is a protective layer on the fur… but at times, like once or twice a year he gets a bath anyhow, especially when he had been peed on.
Then I gave some advice for bathing… safe stand, visible ground ( so they do not have the feeling they get thrown in a bottomless pit ) and that the hissing sound of the shower can be avoided by holing the shower head onto the dog… but that post never got posted… I waited 4 hours 😑 before I stopped it
Let’s hope that today it will be better – should be if you are reading here 😁
.
This picture was taken on a sunny and foggy morning – once again – and Ninja usually would be all silhouette if I had not used a reflector to get some of the light to light Ninja up. A reflector attached to a tripod – usually all I used a tripod for – is a huge helper for these shots.

This is another favorite facial expression, it is just kind, gentle and a bit shy.
When we have been at a spot for a long time and Ninja wants to move on he makes a careful attempt at approaching me.
„I know you are happy with the pictures and I think we do have enough now⁉ May I come to you?“
You know, when I shoot manual lenses, you have to enlarge the picture to manually set your focus, with a shallow depth of field it is important that Ninjas face stays at the same distance to me. Otherwise the shot would be out of focus.
Ninja loves to goof around while shooting, which makes this rather difficult. But this is the first facial expression to look out for when he gets – and it really takes a while – bored.
On a snowy day though… I explained you that we have only 4-5 days a year, I need to get the maximum different type of shots that I can. We are usually on our way for 5-8 hours and make way over 2 000 pictures. Not because we need to many, it is more a lack of practice in the snow… I do not know what works well… so I make a lot of pictures and edit those throughout the year. I usually combine older techniques with newer ones…
Here e.g. I used a foggy preset with my old winter preset and add what I learnt about focus and leading the eye to Ninjas face over the year meets my old high contrast snow style…
The effect is that Ninja really pops out and everything else is a bit softer. The eye automatically focuses on Ninjas face because it is the sharpest part of the picture, it is a tiny bit warmer, brighter and the contrast to the background is strong.
The only thing that distracts from the eye is the splatter of color from his tongue… but it is part of the expression and I do not mask or edit individual parts of the pictures aside my 2 radial filters.
It is a nice base preset now for overcast days that is pretty natural to the original colors.
I like vibrant original colors, because I want everyone to recognize and feel familiar with the scene, which gives you a chance to imagine how it would be here with us.
At least I can’t feel that if the world looks so different from what I experience it at…
So, this was the long answer to some DM’s.

Thank You for all the birthday wishes ❤
.
I read them all to Ninja, who seemed a bit confused because he did not know what I want from him 😁
I think the gesture matters more than his understanding of it… we just want him to be happy ❤
…and this is where today’s picture comes in… a little Ninja happy stance for You… this is Ninja’s happy body posture… he makes where small steps with the front legs, throws his body from side to side and waggles his tail not to lose balance.
His facial expression says it all… „I am Happy!!!“
To make him happy I gave Ninja a duck to eat and he enjoyably chewed on it… good news.. I recorded it for you… I know some of You wanted a video of this.
.
Last week we made a tour with the scooter – in the rain – and I posted the video last night…
I know the camera angle did not fit, there was rain on the lens and we had to stop a few times… but you always want to know what life is like with these dogs… this is how… when they suddenly stop midrunning to…. ah… just watch it on IG TV…
I’ll add more videos to the list, mostly stuff that is to niche, to land here… and I am not really a fan of the vertical video… but it is not hard to turn the screen 😁
Ninja chewing on the duck will probably land there and maybe also on youtube, if you prefer.
Wish You a fun weekend and thank You again for all messages and comments, I was – on behalf of Ninja – very hapoy about it 😊😊
