The best place to cope with the heat is the riverside. Fresh air, cool water and shadows.
Despite the heat it feels comfortable and it is nice, even as human to cool off in the water.

This is Ninjas face right after „wooof“. He checks if I am happy with the result and puts his body under tension ready to dash forward to demand his reward… praise, attention and cuddles.
As You can see in his face he is very confident that he did well and would probably dash to me anyhow 😁

Since this spot was a lot darker than it seems on the picture, I took a reflector and reflected the sun light on Ninja. You can see the reflections of the reflector in Ninjas eyes. Personally I am not a fan of gold or wavy gold reflections and prefer to color in post proceasing. If I use a warm reflector Ninja will simply look way too warm for the environment.

It is still too warm outside to capture new pictures. It does not even cool down at night.
Last night I had the glorious idea to keep the windows wide open to get some fresh air in…
I woke up to itching arms and legs and the noise we all dread.
The high pitch buzzing of mosquitos… I was instantly awake and hunted these vile beasts for an hour… I was awake after that… As I was unable to fall asleep I watched some @demolition._.ranch videos… 😁😁
Today I am really tired, tried to get a useful edit, but failed miserably… I think I’ll need a nap.

We spent the morning outside but everyone just urges to go back inside as it gets warmer in the morning. I considered laying down on the tiles as well… an ice cream would be nice… anyone wants to bring us some? I’ll pay in dog cuddle time and woofer kisses 😁😁

Thank You very much for Your feedback on yesterdays post.
It was great to hear all the positive and also suggestions for improvement.
As I understood, people are happy if I continue as I have done in the past years… but to add a bit more funny pictures and a bit more videos. I think I can keep that in mind 😊

It felt really happy to read through all the praise and it was difficult to not reply. I wanted pure, untainted feedback and did not want to push it in a direction by giving some posts more attention to others. I have been up all night to suck it all up and fell asleep with a smile. Thank You.

As for the dogs… it is still very hot here, so we can’t really do much. As soon as you step outside you start to drop and feel like an Ice cream in the dessert.
The dogs just stick to the cool tiles indoors and avoid to go into the garden.

I am still a bit overwhelmed by the latest success of our Video.
.
About 2 years ago I started with Instagram, because I was jealous of Frank from @kaihu_und_hadez
He is the human of Hadez, Ninjas son.
I saw that he had 2000 followers on Instagram and I decided to give it a try as well.
It became fun to try to improve my photography for each shot, each day. I constantly read about composition, rule of thirds… watched tutorials on editing… improved my hashtags and introduced a personal touch to my posts…
Slowly we caught up… and eventually reached our friends. By that time I started enjoying the daily challenge to better myself and it pushed me forward.
We met lots of friends that grew their accounts with us and I know without You we would not be where we are now. Thank You @thestatelyhound @lovewolfcommunity_ @dogs.media @lovewolfstore for your continued support, features and shoutouts.

Most of all thank You to everyone who enjoys our content, loves to follow our stories and takes part in our daily life. Without the continued feedback I would probably have stopped long ago, but all the feedback and dm’s are simply encouraging.

A picture of Leotie craving for Ninjas attention. He tried to play dead, but as it is obviously not working he shows her his teeth. Not ferocious, just a tiny bit of them.

Ninja was always gentle with Leotie… he knew that she was afraid of him, when they first met and always tried to respect her.
.
At some point Leotie lost her fear and she sneak-jumped him. That is when Ninja learned that by showing teeth he could keep her at distance. This is what he tried here. Do you think it stopped Leotie? 😁😁

About a year ago we took care of the little fox Leotie. But I always wanted to wait for the right moment to post our last video of her. She lives with her owner in North Germany now and we have not seen her in a while.
.
As you can see a fox kit has a whole lot of energy. Ninja, Smilla and took turns keeping her busy.
The first weeks Leotie was terribly afraid of Ninja, but over the weeks slowly befriended him.
.
I am so proud of Ninja… even though she pesters Ninja a lot he was always kind and patient to her.
.

We made our first visit to the floodplains since I left the hospital.
At first it the sky was covered and we had some fresh gusts of wind, but later the sun came out.
The cool water made it endurable… it is such a weird place. A wildlife preserve… it looks rough and wild…
While nature suffers from the heat and draught the floodplains are like an oasis. The trees have so much water from the riverside that they constantly dribble water… these drops are so refreshing. I think I mentioned this before… but it makes this picturesque area much more enjoyable.

This is Ninja without „fluff“.
In Summer Ninja changes his coat… undercoat will fall off (and be everywhere), even the top coat will thin out and Ninja’s mane will vanish, too.

We had another insanely warm day… Ninja wants to take things slowly.
So here is an older favorite of mine… I just love this happy face and my heart melts when he looks at me like this 🤗🐺💞
This is the Instagram version of this picture… I’ll post a „full version“ as story…
It is weird when you always have to set the art and nature aside on Instagram because the picture would just be tiny and have to use portrait mode…

One of the most useful commands I taught Ninja is „Look!“
.
He will close his mouth, look at me and put up his ears. This is how I make him look „serious“.
Sometimes people are concerned because of all the stern faces, but I can assure you that Ninja is just a cheerful, happy and friendly soul.
.
At the moment it is just to warm to make new pictures… we have a heat wave with tropical weather… it does not even cool down at night.
Ninja is not motivated for pictures and I do not want to force him. It is important that it stays fun.
I guess in 1-2 weeks the hottest part of the summer will be over and we will be able to get back to our daily routine. Those 2 more weeks will also be well for my recovery.
