In summer Ninja is rarely active… we go on our packwalk in the morning and rest during the day.
He prefers to find a spot and to observe the area over walking around.
At home he looks for the coolest spot on the tiles and keeps his outdoor time at a minimum.
He does not like water, e.g. a kids pool… so I help Ninja by letting him rest and help keep him cool with e.g. dog ice cream.
We also go to the riverside and make sure Ninja only cools off or drinks running water…
In extreme heat I use water to keep Ninja wet when we start to hike or lay wet towels on him.
Love summer sunsets though as you can see 😊😊

This is my favorite picture of Ninja and resembles the kind of pictures I want to capture. The goal is to capture Ninja as wolfy as I can and make people wonder if there is really no wolf in him.
Of course he will never look like a real wolf or a mid content wolfdog, but if I can capture him like this I am happy. Strong. Focussed. Regal.
It is very important to me to create authentic pictures. When You see Ninja without leash and collar, he does not wear any.
.
My postprocessing is limited to RAW-Conversion (RAW files are photos exactly as the camera captured them and they are meant to be processed) and I do not use Photoshop.
Currently I use @Lightroom, but want to learn to use @captureonepro as I think it is the more advanced solution.
.
I use an entry level camera a Sony a6000 and the SEL50F18 lens. 95% of my pictures are taken with this combo. I also love to use vintage lenses, e.g. this has been captured using a 45+ year old Minolta 135mm f2.8
This picture has been taken at the same time and same spot as the one yesterday… if you want to check the difference.
.
I want to encourage people to go out, take pictures and to spent time with their dogs.
.
The main focus on this feed are pictures. I know you love the videos and they will stay a part of this feed, too. I just do not want to stage them.
I think their magic is, that they are spontaneous and honest…

The „Ninja goofing around“-video went viral and I nearly gained 10k Followers in 3 days. Wow… this is so overwhelming.
I try to post daily, but such success is very overwhelming to me as I pressure myself to „deliver“ more compelling content, knowing that it will be very difficult to top.
It takes a while to realize that I just go on delivering the best content I have 😊

Many questions came up and I’ll answer them here and in the coming posts.

My name is Michael and Ninja is my only dog, a pure bred Siberian Husky. Ninja is my second own dog, as I had another Husky called Aki before him…
I used to be a helicopter pilot, switched to become an IT Consultant and aim to make a living from photography.
I am single, live in a small village in Southwestern Germany close to Frankfurt/Mayence #mainz.
.
5 years ago I adopted Ninja, whose owner passed away. As I was not certain how a grown up dog would bond to me, I put a lot of effort and rewarded Ninja each time he paid attention to me.
For 2 years I handfed (and sometimes still do) Ninja for tricks. It took a bit, but after a few months this started to become fun for both of us. The effects of positive reinforcement, bonding is what You see in the videos.
We go hike 3-5 hours a day. Oftentimes in a packwalk and other times alone.
We do not cover much distance, prefer to walk to a nice spot to take pictures and observe the area.
.
Ninja can stay (nondestructive) alone, but prefers – even if it is boring – to be at my side…
We used a lot of training to have a reliable recall, even while Ninja is dashing after game.
I rather leash Ninja in critical areas than having to rely on recall in order to not disturb wildlife.
Ninja is friendly and open. He not aggressive, even if other dogs bite him. Ninja will always try to de-escalate a situation.
.
Ninja has a long and quick tongue and loves to give kisses, even to people he just got to know… Should You ever meet us (-> DM), keep this in mind and your lips closed. 🐺👅😁😊

Thank You Frank @kaihu_und_hadez for taking good care of Ninja. I knew he was in good hands and I did not need to worry. It was great to spend the weekend with him, his family, friends and the pack.
When he realized that I was packing my stuff together, Ninja did not leave my side and was like a shadow.
While I am going to miss Frank I am – at the same time – happy to have Ninja back.

As I mentioned before, Frank from @kaihu_und_hadez has been taking care of Ninja during my stay at the hospital and I have been picking up Ninja last weekend. (There is a video of our reunion, too). Another guest at Frank’s home has been the amazing German photographer 📷 @felixrachor who spent the time between his workshops at Frank’s home.
You really need to head over to his profile and check out his fantastic work.
.
I do appreciate him taking the time in his off time to capture some pictures of Ninja and also to give me some editing tipps a lot. Thank You very much.
.
I’ll post a picture shot by Felix tomorrow. You do want to see it, right? 😊😊 …and if you still have not checked him out, do so now 👆@felixrachor

Many of You a asked me to record the reunion with Ninja.
Here it is.
.
Frank approached me with his dog Hadez (@kaihu_und_hadez ) on the left and Ninja at the right.
Both dogs looked curiously around and were obviously not aware of me.
I stayed quiet to not spoil the surprise in advance.
You can notice Ninja raising the head to sniff the air before he recognizes me 🐺👃👦
.
What comes then was impossible to record… I got love-attacked by Ninja and also Hadez and needed to pay attention to keep proper distance to the train.
You can hear the heavy breathing as my lungs need more time to recover 😁
Ninja was a tiny bit reserved and saved greetings – his nick name is chief quick-tongue – 🐺👅👦 until we arrived at Frank’s home.

Soon… we will be reunited. Time seems to move more slowly as the departure becomes imminent.
.
The effects of Ninjas absence on me are very hard on me… it is so weird that even disasters in my life did not make me cry… I just figured how to move on and make the beat of things…
.
On the other hand the simple thought about Ninja will water my eyes as only a pound of onions could 😉 The days before it was sadness while now, the thought of having my precious Ninja back just fills me with joy.
.
I imagine how the meeting will be like… I usually do not like when he licks my face… but today he can do as long as he wants to 😊😊
.
I am glad that @kaihu_und_hadez took care of Ninja, they did a great job. On Ninja’s facebook page you can find a great bike-jöring video of Kaihu, Roja, Hadez and Ninja.

Finally they let me leave the hospital. The past 2 days were really annoying… bound to the hospital, the room and the uncomfortable bed I became very restless, just urged to exit this place.
Just wanted to be able to go move again, to go outside… and I miss Ninja.
In 21+ years these are the only days I spent without a dog… I constantly look to the places Ninja would stay… and am a moment scared because I do not know the whereabouts of Ninja because he is not there. Then comes the relief, knowing that Ninja is in good hands, then I miss him more…
Just a few more days and we will reunite… can’t wait… till then I try to bot think too much about him… lets see how long that actually works 😉
Hope You had a good start into the week… I’ll go get my medicine and then do some shopping and preparations for the trip.
