2 days ago we had been at the Klaussenpasshöhe in Switzerland. Hadez was with us and I am surprised how well behaved he was.
We had been there 3 hours and Hadez was offleash most of the time.
He stayed on „stay!“ at times even for more than minutes.
Just at one point he got bored. Within a second you could see how his focus vanished and he decided to run off…
I recalled him, without success. I knew that his mind was now set on running and exploring. Everyone thought, that now we lost Hadez.
I saw that he was running towards a rock wall and waited for him to reach it. He stopped to evaluate how to proceed and I started to howl. 👦🎶🎵♩
To our surprise Hadez turned around at once and dashed towards me in crazy speed.
That was so beautiful to experience. He was super happy to return and got a goodie-jackpot.
After that he was focused as if it never happened. We were so lucky.

Looking back at the past years I find it weird how good photographers, that take pictures of Ninja manage composition, coloring but at the same time fail to set Ninja properly in scene.
Often I try to drop a hint at the start of the shooting but they brush away the advice without much thought. I know I am not a „photographer“, which is a protected occupation which requires apprenticeship, etc in Germany and some look down on „a guy with a cam“.
But I have been been composing pictures of Ninja (and other dogs) for 5 years… and made over 300000 pictures in this time. It is a very special niche, but I know how to set Ninja in pose like no one else… Over 60000 fans follow us on social media, so it can`t be total crap.
But when people, with no experience what it takes to get wolfdogs and northern breeds to joyfully cooperate, tell you how things must be done, it is a frustrating experience.
You can`t rush them… have to give them a bit time and get them used to what they are supposed to do, the environment, the smells, the noises… It may take a few minutes longer per scene, but the results are worth it… this will carry on to the next steps… you will get natural shots, natural poses. Isn`t that what a wolf(lookalike) shoot is all about?… to present e.g. graceful, timid, archaic, sovereign or playful character…
But if a glance tells you „your input is not wanted here, we know how to do our job!“ but can`t tell the differences in e.g. Hadez and Ninja… They can tell that Hadez looks wolfier, but not WHY… if you do not know why, you can`t emphasize these details… that is usually what I do with Ninja`s shots… I emphasize what makes him look wolfy.
1.) try to get him to put his legs together, so his body appears narrower
2.) try to have him look against the sun, (or reflector) so his eyes will squint and look almond shaped instead of round
3.) let him stand still at a spot in order to get him to adjust his posture naturally, e.g. when a leg looks „odd“ after placing him
4.) give him some fun commands to do to make him look self confident, proud and energetic

Apparently it will take many more days till the return of winter ❄
The second best way to cool off during hot summer days is a cool bath at the river 🌡🌞🏞
I present You… the Ninjagator 😁😁

What a waste of time… I believe Lightroom Classic has an expiry date. That is why I was looking for alternatives…
I checked out @captureonepro but it cancled the import at 19000 pictured and lightoom reported a corrupted catalog… coincidence? It took me forever to get it fixed. The last backup was a couole of days ago.
After I had everything running again I removed the history, optimized and checked the integrity several times.
I gave Capture One a second try but encountered the exact same problem… the latest edits were all blue, none of the edits where visible in my pictures…
I played around with the features and generally liked it… but at the same time I disliked losing at least 20000 edits…
To make up for all the time lost I made a long walk with Ninja to the riverside and we sat to watch the evening sun set…
I tested my new camera bag, which is really nice to carry anf I love that I can just grab everything… usually I do not carry the #minolta with me, as it is quite heavy. But I simply love it. It is sharp and Ninja looks so much broader than with the 50mm.

The forest is full of fantastic scents. There must be a lot of females in heat at the moment. Ninja sniffs and licks (yuck) each 5m at every peespot 👃👅🐺💞
He has not eaten for a couple of days now and each time one of the females passes our house he comes in and looks at me like „lets go out now!“
.
His bowl outside stays full and birds (!!!) come to pick the pellets. It is a funny noise… Ninja does not mind, simply watches curiously. I think his mind is just elsewhere 😁😁
I was worried about his bad eating habbits and bought him an expensive super premium food. Just 95% meat and some fruits, spices and oils. I took Ninja to the store to have him choose brand and and variety 😁😁
He eagerly ate the first bowl… but since then his drive lets him think of different things 🐺💕🐶💞🐕
In a few days, when they are no longer at the pike of the heat his behavior will return to normal.
.
Wish you a great and fun weekend 🙌

Yesterday you did not tire to tell me how much Ninja looks like a typical husky…
Next to wolfdog Kalisha it is no problem, but here Ninja is next to lovely and tall husky Makoon (@liveitlikemakoon
) She visited us for a walk with us from the othe side of the country last year.
.
In my opinion, it becomes obvious why many people struggle so much to accept Ninja as a pure bred husky.

Let’s play a guessing game!
.
There is always a lot of gossip about Ninja…
.
What breed is he?
Are you sure he is a pure bred Husky?
He does noot look like any Husky I have ever seen!
He looks like he has wolf in him!
Sir, is this a wolf?
.
I get these questions every day… I like to play with pictures, to blur the lines between ( #lowcontent ) #wolfdog and dog by using proper composition, lighting and posture… but that does not count for the people we meet. Ninja does have a certain presence about him…
Giessing games with strangers and actual wolfdogs often lead people to guess that Ninja is the one with wolf in him…
.
I know from his papers and even more so from his behavior – conpared with real wolfdogs – that Ninja is a pure dog.
But that leaves the claim open that he might not be a pure husky, maybe a cross with a Swedish Elkhound… or a Tamaskan… there are plenty of possibilities…
.
Fortunately there is a solution for this problem: @embarkvet .
Embark will extract the DNA from a swab and checks for over 200000 markers to return a detailed view of the dogs genome and thus breed or mix of breeds.
In addition Embark detects over 160 genetic diseases.
.
Since this is always a hot topic for Ninja, Embark offered us a free analysis in return for an honest review.
That is great, since I talked for years about the benefit of embark.
So many animals are being misrepresented as wolfdogs. Many breeders – not all – are dishonest about the wolfcontent.
Embark can give you this information.
.
So… do you think Ninja is truly a pure bred Husky? Do you think he has wolf in him?
While I am quite certain, after all I preach it since 5 years on a daily base, there is still excitement to be finally able to wave the most renowned DNA test, Embark, at the people that doubt me..
..and imagine the embarrassment if I was wrong 😁😁
.
So what is your guess?
Which of the animals in this picture does have wolf content? 😀😀

Ninja got attacked 😐
.
On our daily hikes we meet a lot of dogs and people.
Today we saw a british bulldog in the distance… we were like 150m away and the dog was fetching sticks. The dog was unleashed, so I saw no issue…
We walked the same direction… slowly but surely we caught up. We were still l80m away when they stopped.
I came a bit closer when the bulldog noticed us… without hesitation the dog dashed towards us while its owner screamed in anger.
.
I stood in the way and signaled the dog to stop… but it did not care and sidestepped me… without hesitation it bit into Ninjas leg…
Ninja is not a dog that fights back. He was shocked and I tried to pull him away. I tried to push the dog away with my foot… did not want to get my hands hurt.
.
The owner was still shouting… the dog now bit into Ninjas throat who was whincing in pain and shock…
.
I kicked the dog hoping it would discourage from biting… but it just looked for a better spot to bite. Ninja growled but the dog was not impressed.
.
I did not know what to do and kicked the dog … less soft as before but also did not want to really hurt it…
.
It felt like an eternity before the owner wobbled in. He pulled the dog away, kicked and beat his dog… without an excuse he turned and wanted to leave.
He said „you have a big dog, it won’t be hurt“…
I was really upset… demanded him to stop, he did not… I had to threaten with police before he gave it and gave me his personal data…
Ninja was hurt, but no blod was drawn… We went home and examined him in detail. He seemed ok and I gave Ninja a Zeel, for pain and to help with possible inflammation.
.
A few hours later I checked for crusted blood, but Ninja seems ok. Poor Ninja…
