Much to my surprise we still had some snow left…
I looked out of the window and saw the sun struggling to breach the fog… it was just a small disc…
I was very tired, but knew I had to get out to capture pictures.
.
At first it was quite dark… but the sun eventually came through. The whole forest lit up bright… and eventually the fog was totally gone… I made a ton of really nice pictures and will open the series with this shot.
.
Ninja was happy jumping around like mad. Whenever I gave him a move-command he did so with a jump like this.

For two days, we had bright Blue Sky Sun and warmth. It was almost if spring had begun. Nevertheless, on time February 15th, we woke up to snow. 📅🌨

When you have only 5 days snow a winter and you love snow, you remember each of these days.
In addition, if you had birthday today you would have an increased special awareness for the weather conditions on February 15th 🙌🎂🎁

A few minutes later we were goofing around in the snow… it was a pleasure to watch Ninja hop around… stick his nose in the snow, dig some holes and have fun!
Best present ever 😊😊 .

I was googling for Valentine’s greetings/wishes to use in this post, but I find most were simply too gooey for my taste – which is probably why we never get a single one 😀

When I leave the house, I am focussed on the hike, the kind of pictures I want to take… I evaluate where the chances for good light are best, how to get Ninja into the mood I need for the pictures I want…
.
Then I run into someone, a neighbour e.g., and it just throws me off… I can’t get a word out, suddenly feel awkward, and that blocks me even further…
It is no wonder I learnt to avoid people. Today I talked to my neighbour the first time, in 12 years.
.
When I enter the forest all this falls off and I can breathe… then it is just Ninja and me… and passerbys…
Today I had the whole equipment set up… the tripod, reflector… Ninja stood in the shadows of a tree and was illuminated by the reflector as I was taking pictures… (see story)
.
2 passerbys observed us for a good minute and then asked „Are you taking pictures?“
I had to chuckle…
.
What would you have answered?

At Ninjas previous home there was a morning ritual.
Every morning at 5:30-5:45 the huskies, outside, start to howl and at the dogs inside howl back.
When I brought Ninja home, he was adopted at 2 years, he continued the tradition. Since he is absolutely silent (no barking, no howling, no talking) he jumped on the bed and licked my face, ears, neck without stopping, literally 2-3 minutes…
It was hilarious, you can’t help but to laugh out loud… I learnt the first day to keep my mouth shut tight unless I wanted his tongue in my mouth… yuck 😀😀
Ninja eventually stopped.
.
About 2 months ago Ninja started to stand next to me each morrning and returned to sleep shortly after.
At first I thought he’d need to go outside… but that wasn’t the case.
.
2 weeks ago Ninja started licking my face again in the morning, just ad he used to… he requires me to pat before he returns to sleep. I have no clue what this is about.
.
I am happy about it, but wonder what made this behavior return.
Is it females in heat outside… they all pass our house, since we are the last house before the forest… is it because I am sleeping bad and he wants to wake me from a nightmare (had pretty ugly ones), or is it just a friendly greeting – showing and expecting some affection back?
I am puzzled… and laughing… with sealed lips 😊😊

Instagram is odd these days… I am missing out on many posts of people I do actually follow and have notifications on, but still it seems that some of these accounts, I do also have regular contact with, no longer show up in my feed.
.
The past days I commented and liked on each post that wad shown to me and still, refreshing would not ahow me posts of accounts I do follow.
.
The direction IG goes at this time is very puzzling… I know they want to equalize things a bit more, give smaller accounts a larger audience and thus chance to grow.
.
This reminds me of Youtube where, after subscribing to an account, you also have to check the notification bell.
.
Do you have an idea how this works? How do you deal with accounts that become invisiblr to you?
.
Right now I tried to set up notifications for more accounts and wonder if it does make any difference.
I also go through my list occasionally to see if I missed out on posts (which is how I discovered this issue at first).
.
Hmh… I am not complaining, in the end we will just do what we do best, provide good content and hope for the best 😊😊
I am just really puzzled.
.
Anyway we have been having real nice light again and were able to capture made a few nice pictures. I really like it when Ninja has this eager and expectant face… waiting to do something fun 😊

If you have seen the live-video you already know what we have been up to.

We have been in the Gemarkung above Heidesheim to get a nice shot of the Taunus, the lower mountain region on the other side of the river Rhine.

Sadly they were covered in haze… but we still had a fun time together… and made the best of it.

One year ago I made a video of Ninja goofing around up there and now I made another one… which will be edited soon I hope 😊

Ninja has been in such a great mood the past days… it is so lovely to be able to witness these moments.
Sure Ninja is very beautiful… but his true beauty comes from inside… he is such a good boy and sometimes it takes days like that to realize it anew.

Castle Waldthausen is one of my favorite spots to hike to.
.
It lies in the middle of our beautiful lenneberg forest.
It is now a recreation area and educational center.
At the weekends it is pretty much deserted though. .
To the side is a separate park area, where we usually don’t disturb anyone.
It is fun to see Ninja (and friends) dash and jump around like crazy 😊
.
Thought the picture would be a good candidate for #tot 😊
