The only needle-leafed trees we have are pines. I have been trying to look in every corner of our forest to find a dark and moody spot…
Fir trees, needle-leafes and moss on the ground… so dense together that hardly any light reaches the floor…
3 years ago I made an awesome moody picture that I try to recapture… too bad that the location is a good 800km away 😁😁

A few days ago I noticed at the horizon treetops that looked like fir trees… and decided to go here…
The location is a good 15km away, which is considered that we also need to return, pretty far.
.
Ninja has become a bit naughty… due to all the rain and mud our hikes have not been very long (~2 hours) and he needed for exercise… the flrecast for the next days meant more rain… I decided to try to find a moody fir tree spot.
.
We started at 9am and returned at 2pm, 5 hours and 25km… made 380 pictures 😊
.
You can see several stations of our expedition as story and some live videos…
.
We did bikejöring… For such long distances Ninja may decide himself how fast he wants to go… sometimes he likes to go fast while at other times he just trotts along… it is supposed to be fun for him 😊😊
.
In the live video you can see that Ninja is still highly motivaed – despite being tired and on the run for 25km.

I have always been a nightowl. I like when it gets dark… distractions become less…
noises quiet down… the dog has been taken care off and aside a bit attention occasionally you can focus without being disturbed…
.
This helps to get a huge amount of things done. It is like being ‚in the flow’… it just goes on and on and on… you do not notice time… even if you would, it would not make sense to stop when You are at 100%
Last night was such a night… The sunrise surprised me, made me realize that there will be another day with odd day and night rhythm.
.
I took Ninja out for a long walk, thought we could bring some letters to the post office.
We usually hike around Uhlerborn and I like to vary our paths to keep the walks interesting for Ninja. Today we walked to the airport through the huge orchard above Heidesheim. We had not been there for some time.
As usually when we come into town people gathered around Ninja… Just glad that Ninja enjoys this kind of attention…
We took public transport back 😊

Now I need a nap…

When Ninja sees something and he wants to go there but is not allowes to he will have this glance.

He will make himself tall, lean from one side to the other… while bouncing with his paws. If the temptation was large I would call him to me to avoid Ninja running off.

Some numbers today 😁

I got my Sony a6000 in July 2015 and have been using it pretty much each day.
.
Todays picture is number 202762, which averages to 215 pictures per day 😁
.
Maybe that explains why Ninja is such a well trained supermodel.
.
I used to make a 600-800 pictures a day and now I am down to mayve 100. I stopped simply pointing my camera towards Ninja with continuous shots hoping for a decent shot.
.
I read that it takes roughly 10000 hours of hard work to become master. Some parts of your brain will reshape especially for rhis discipline… I still have a large part of the road ahead. Yes, I strive to become really good.
To be honest there is still more luck involved than I like to admit, but overall I am quite happy with my progress.
.
I stumbled over this quote by Stephen King:
„What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work“
.
In this respect I wish all of us success on their path 😊

We had gusts of wind with 135km/h ( 85 mph ). The fastest winds were on the Brocken with 205km/h (135 mph), but today the storm was pretty much over.
.
The sun came out in the morning and we decided to go to the floodplains…
I was standing on the dam to make a story video, and the water was almost to the top of the large dam.
The location for this shot was totally underwater 2 days ago…
.
I am so in awe about the forces of nature… find them so impressive…
.
Also Ninja feels much better, he has eaten and was in a very good mood today.
.
The trails along the riverside and large parts of the floodplains were still under water, but we had fun anyhow 😁😁
.

What a week it has been… There is so much to do right now… and the broken memory card, set me back even more.
.
Won’t help to complain, lets look ahead 😊
.
Almost everything is – thankfully – working as intended and I am slowly catching up on those messages 😊
.
We have another storm with strong gusts of wind (85km/h 55 mp/h) and it is dangerous in the forest.
.
Hopefully the weekend will bring better weather as I am eager to go for a long hike with Ninja and to capture some images.
As I have been very focused on other stuff Ninja has come short and I have a bad conscience about it.
.
Ninja woke me early and wanted to go out. He did not feel well as he puked on the terrace after a short walk… He seemed better in the afternoon, but I will probably give him some „Moro carrot“ in the evening. No reason to worry it looked like he did not digest the rabbit ears he found in Leoties stash behind the bed.

The past days have been annoying. I lost many pictures due to my @sandisk memory card breaking.
.
I mean this can happen, but this is already the second time within a year that the card broke.
.
It is not that I am putting a lot of stress on the card, basically I upload 1-3 pictures a day to use on Instagram and read some books now and then.
The most stressing part is probably navigation and the quarterly update of the maps.
.
A memory card should be able to handle that. But this is already the second one that broke after not even a year.
.
The last time was no fun… we were hiking in Switzerland and all of a sudden I no longer had any form of navigation.
.
Of the 4 SanDisk cards I bought, 3 broke early and the one that is actually being stressed each day, the one in my camera, works flawless.
.
If You have a better manufacturer for SD Cards I am happy to hear your suggestions.
.
Sorry for the rant, it is just that with all the downloads I will have to make now my internet basically stands still for about another week as I live in a rural area with really slow internet.
I hate not being able to engage here… there are currently 142 messages I have to reply to, I will work them off one after another.
Also I’ll start catching up with comments, questions and posts.
.

As I mentioned many times before I struggle with dark and moody edits… For 6 hours I was editing various shots for a moody look. I liked this one best.
I love the feel of „a random encounter“ in the forest.
I know its dark and Ninja is hardly to be seen… On a similar shot I got the question „where Ninja?“ He is the small silhouette 😁

Hope you like the edit that fits very well to this dreary, rainy, foggy day.

Will post rhe others as story, as soon as I am back from the evening walk.
