Oh Joy! Fresh Snow! Again!

Is there anyrhing more beautiful than a hike through fresh snow? All noises are muffled, it is almost silent if it wasn’t for the creaking of the boots in the snow.
.
Ninja loves the snow… it started in the morning and I decided to delay our morning walk a bit to give snow more time to cover the landscape.
.
It snowed so hard, that the camera had issues with focus if Ninja was further than 4-5yards away… focus jumped back and forward trying to focus on the flakes. I lost a large amount of pictures to that sadly.
I had already expected that though…
As a quick fix I closed the aperture, from 1.8 to 2.8-4 depebding on the intensity of the snowfall…
.
I chose this picture, because You can see how well Siberian Huskies are made for snow.
It was not really cold and snow melted immediately on my jacket and on our Australian Dingo Smilla… She was soaked wet and cold, while Ninja was covered with snow… the snow did not melt because Ninjas fur insulates body warmth from the outside.
.
On a sidenote: I got a new cellphone contract with 15 times the pityful traffic I had before… expect more live videos!
.
Oh one more question… If I posted pictures of Leotie (the fox) here – additional to the ‚daily Ninja‘ – would you mind that? Would like that?

Wow… the last couple of days have been busy… the Ninja & Leotie Video has been picked up by a few Networks.
Curious how things will turn out 😁😁
Overall the feedback has been overwhelming. It will take a while to reply to all these questions.
.
Just a couple of infos. Ninja is a pure bred Siberian Husky… he has a sprint type body, is rather tall and most people are distracted by his wolf grey fur.
He has a lot of Polar Speed ( working line husky kennel ) in his pedigree, which is the same line that was used to create the Tamaskan breed. .
Since all the writing, negotiating and cleaning after the little fox took its toll on our time with the dogs we took a really long hike through the #lennebergwald today.

This turned out to be a fantastic decision. In the early morning it started to snow. Ninja loves snow, can you tell?

Ninja and Snow… always a guarantee for a good shot…
Full of enthusiasm, dashing around like crazy…you can feel that these dogs were meant for this.
Usually we have only a few days of snow. But does make him so happy, that I regret to not live in the land of always winter… and wonder he would not be happier with more snow…
On the other hand, when we come home from a hike Ninja does a happy dance at our door step, as if he wanted to say „This is Home! And I am happy to be here!“

A hike to the „Großer Mannstein“ one of the beautiful hills around Kelkheim, close to Frankfurt.
It is part of the city-forest and very well maintained.
The highlight of the hike is the breathtaking view over the Frankfurt Skyline.

Barely 2 months and our beast has destroyed its indoor enclosure 😁 (Not Ninja, our beloved Leotie is the beast)

I have been trying to fix things left and right, probably spent 200 bucks on metal scraps to reinforce and protect the enclosure’s frame 😁😁
I should not complain. It is designed as enclosure for chicken and rabbits and not for beasts that eat them 😁😁 It withstood Leoties power for quite some time.
.
On the other hand we had a bit of sunshine and I got this somewhat grim facial expression from Ninja 😁😁
.
Wish you a great weekend, enjoy the weather… or try to stay dry if you are in Germany 😁😁 Go hike your dogs will love you for it.

Fog… Backlight… Sunrays… ofc I had to take a picture…
.
Sometimes I am sad that you can’t see the pictures in full detail as I can see them on my monitor.
This picture simply looks amazing on bif screen… Ninja takes only a fraction of the picture, but on big screen he is full of details, just as a close up would be here on IG.
But on a closeup You would miss out on the scenery… I like pictures where Ninja and his surroundings complement each other… e.g. a beautiful landscape where Ninjas presence adds something to it – or the other way around.
On Instagram it is usually one or the other… and pictures without a detailed view of Ninja tend to perform less.
.
Here however I hope that Ninja stands out well enough to the background.

Yesterday we have been using public transport again.
Ninja is not afraid of strangers and comes close if people ask him to. He does not mind to give kisses…
The reactions are often funny…
„I want to pet him so bad!“ followed by „OMG all the fur on my clothes!“
„Come here,…“ and I can already see Ninja try to get on his back legs to try to lick the person’s face. „Caution now he will try to lick your face, push him gently away if you do not like that!“ „Why don’t you teach him to not do that?“ „It is because that is how he shows affection and I am glad that he does, woild not every try to unteach him that“
Some people really enjoy the Ninja kisses gives. In this case I usually warn to keep the lips closed in all cases. „Ninjas Nickname used to be ‚chief quick tongue’… if your lips are not tight shut he will put his tongue in all the way to the palate 😁😁“ (it is not all that bad, but it encourages the human to keep the mouth shut).

Neither rain nor snow… the beauty of hoar frost… .
I liked the post yesterday. The one thing that became evident is that the picture I chose was the one that most people – at least those who replied – seemed to like… but it was not everyone’s first choice.
It is impossible to match everyone’s taste… not only the picture matter but also the post processing.
In a nutshell… a camera is stupid… it does guess white and black… and based on this assumption the remaining picture is calculated…
In post production you can change the mood of a picture entirely… dark, high key, desaturated, vibrant… you can put a focus on certain spots… remove or reduce distractions.
But you can’t please everyone.
I found the experiment quite interesting. Thank You for taking part 😊
