World of Warcraft Patch 2.0.7

The Servers just went down to apply the new Patch 2.0.7 for World of Warcraft. Basically its no longer possible to easily get the Key Fragments for the Karazhan attunement from instances cleared by other groups. The Buff for Haste Rating is something I also like, especially since both of my weapons grant haste.

General

  • The amount of haste granted by a point of haste rating has been increased by about 50%.
  • 20 slot bags are now bind on equip.
  • Any effect which benefits the victim of a critical strike will now trigger even if resilience converted the attack from a critical strike to a normal strike; this applies to melee, ranged, and spell. The affected talents, abilities, and items are: "Eye for an Eye", "Blessed Resilience", "Enrage", "Martyrdom", "Blood Craze", "Eye of the Storm", and "Bonespike Shoulder".
  • The Crust Bruster has had a loot icon and sound change.
  • Players can no longer send gift wrapped packages via COD.
  • When sharing a quest, the order logic has changed to check whether or not the player has completed or is ineligible for the quest before checking whether their quest log is full.

PvP – Battlegrounds

  • If Primalist Thurloga is attacked and pulled off her pathing on the way to summon Lokholar the Ice Lord, she will now properly path back to the summoning ring to complete the event.
  • PVP flags and graveyard nodes can no longer be captured through collision.

Raids and Dungeons

  • Players are no longer able to accept the quest "The Opening of the Dark Portal" while the Black Morass encounter is engaged.
  • In the Black Morass, Chrono Lord Deja will now properly spawn during a Heroic Mode attempt.
  • After completing the Black Morass encounter, all the additional mobs in the zone will no longer all aggro.
  • Durnholde Lookouts will now properly despawn after all 5 of the Baracks in Caverns of Time: Escape from Durnholde are burned down.
  • he items required to complete the Karazhan key quest can now only be looted by the first group in the instance to reach them.Berthold the Doorman will now have a gossip option to teleport players to the Shade of Aran's room. This gossip option only becomes available when players have defeated the Shade of Aran.
  • The aggro range for players when under the effect of "Incite Chaos" while fighting Blackheart the Inciter in the Shadow Labrynth has been adjusted.
  • Many creatures within Coilfang Resevoir have been slightly retuned.
  • Many creatures within the Mana Tombs have been slightly retuned.

Mac

Stability improvements in Multi-Threaded OpenGL support on future OS X releases.

Bug Fixes

  • The talent "Combat Potency" no longer causes rogues to have a chance to gain energy when other players hit them with off-hand attacks.
  • Players with multiple chat windows will no longer have fixed channels (ie. general, trade) added back to the main chat window every time they log on.
  • Attempting to prospect less than 5 pieces of ore will no longer cause a game crash. (Spanish Only)
  • The Fel Reaver for "It's A Fel Reaver, But With Heart" quest will now respawn properly if you wipe on the quest.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when on a flight path.
  • Fixed the local defense channel so that it will properly change based on the player's zone.

Borked progresses in Karazhan and Slant retired

Borked Guild on Ravencrest has started to raid Karazhan and nothing is stopping us. There is the usual learning to play new encounters but also as usual Borked progresses with the world best guilds and killed King Maulgar. It was a great thing to see everybody at 70 so fast and then immediately focused on getting the attunements done. See pictures and the story of the encounter at the Borked Homepage.

Along with 2 Shamans I am far behind though. As i stated before I really do not want to play the night elf Slant anymore and thus it was a burden to level him to 67.

So I started a new Rogue, Slanty which is a human and approaching the 50's at the moment. I plan to get Blacksmithing with him to get the Hammersmith Maces and then to totally focus on Haste to maximize effects from Combat Potency.

The constant leveling keeps me from posting at the moment, but in a short time I should be back with the full news you are used from this website. Feel free to leave comments.

Blizzard Press Release – 2 400 000 Copies sold within 24 hours

Blizzards Press Release indicates that the Expansiopn urning Crusade was sold more than 2 400 000 times within the first 24 hours of the launch. More than 4 000 000 copies were provided to countries all over the world. They bypassed the disaster with too limited supplies they had atthe initial launch of World of Warcraft.

IRVINE, Calif. – January 23, 2007 – Blizzard Entertainment® today announced that World of Warcraft®: The Burning Crusade™ has broken the day-one sales record to become the fastest-selling PC game ever in North America and Europe, with a worldwide total of nearly 2.4 million copies sold in the first 24 hours of availability. The Burning Crusade, the first expansion set for World of Warcraft, was simultaneously released in North America, Europe, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia on January 16, and on January 17 in Australia and New Zealand.

Blizzard had supplied more than 4 million game boxes to retailers worldwide, and more than 5,000 stores throughout the world had their doors open at midnight to welcome thousands of expectant players.

Day-one sales totals on both continents were similar, with an estimated total of nearly 1.2 million copies sold on the first day in North America and an estimated total of more than 1.1 million copies sold in Europe within the first 24 hours of launch.* By the end of the first day of availability on both continents, a total of more than 1.7 million players had already logged in and upgraded World of Warcraft to play The Burning Crusade.

Retailers are continuing to report sustained demand, so if players have not yet purchased their copy of The Burning Crusade, they are advised to call ahead to make sure their store has copies on hand. Additional shipments of the expansion have been routed to retailers to help maintain stock levels.

World of Warcraft – Burning Crusade Patchday – Patch 2.0.6 (01/23/2007)

The First Patch for the World of Warcraft Expansion Burning Crusade has been applied to the Servers. As implemented before on the Testserver these chages made it to the Patch:

Hunters

  • "Silencing Shot" now does only 50% of weapon damage instead of 75%.
  • The base damage for "Arcane Shot" has been reduced by about 9% and the bonus damage from ranged attack power reduced from 20% to 15%.
  • The bonus damage for "Barrage" is now 4/8/12% for ranks 1/2/3.
  • The bonus damage for "Improved Barrage" is now 4/8/12% for ranks 1/2/3.

Mages

  • Each rank of "Improved Fireball" now reduces your spell damage coefficient by 2%.
  • Each rank of "Improved Frostbolt" now reduces your spell damage coefficient by 2%.
  • "Counterspell" no longer triggers the global cooldown.
  • "Mana Shield" now absorbs magical damage as well as physical damage.

Priests

  • the bonus coefficient for "Shadow Word: Pain" has been reduced by about 9%. This should result in about 5% less damage done by "Shadow Word: Pain" for the typical priest.

Bug Fixes

  • The "Frozen Shadoweave Boots" will now properly increase shadow damage.
  • Players will no longer lose control of their character if they try to talk to an NPC while mobs are aggro on them.
  • The /equip command will now work on pieces of gear that are not in your primary bag.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing some players to disconnect in Hellfire Citadel:Blood Furnace.
  • The "Corruptor" 4 piece set bonus will now be properly applied.
  • The Legion Fel Cannons at Forge Camp Anger in Blades Edge will now properly spawn above ground.
  • The Arena queue tooltip will now show the arena that the player is queued for.
  • Fixed an error that was causing players to disconnect if they tried to socket a gem that had been gift wrapped.
  • Fixed an error that was causing players to disconnect forming a party with other members in the same area.
  • Pet icons will now properly update in the Stables window.
  • Improved the robustness of the pet action bar display. It is now less likely to be accidentally blocked by addons.
  • Players will no longer hear the gong sound repeated after initially joining a queue for the battlegrounds.
  • Having a group invite declined while queued via "Looking for More" will no longer remove you from the queue.
  • Nethershards will no longer cost honor to purchase but will cost gold instead.
  • Players will no longer be given access to both quest lines following the Declaration of Allegiance to the Scryers or Aldor in Shattrath City.

Updated Macro’s for WoW 2.0

I have updated the macros in the World of Warcraft section to UI version 2.0. There are currently only Druid and Rogue macro's that I find useful in my daily playing time. You can findthe link to the right or here.

48 hours Burning Crusade

Burning Crusade has been online for 48 hours and its time for a first summary. I have seen launches of many mmorpgs and many expansions in other games, so I think I am qualified to say that the launch has been much smoother than expected. Ravencrest – EU is a highpopulation Server and that means of course the Outlands were down more than a few times. But everyone being crowded in the same zone has these results and I doubt any other company would have done a better start. Over the next days with the highly varying levels of our players the issues will reduce.

After 27 hours we had the first Level 70, but its rather not that impressive if you have a team of 20+ players killing the mobs you tag so you get all the experience. Especially considered that players leveling by their own means are not far behind. For example FS from teh Guild Borked and Nelle expect to be 70 early this morning. It is probably a group of powerplayers on each realm 🙂

I find it hard to motivate at the moment to just grind xp without looking around in the new outlands. Its only the first time you can really enjoy it all … The second char will always walk through content you already have see.

On our PvP Server Horde and Alliance are leveling side by side, not harming each other. At first I did the same, ignoring the reds focussed on my quests until questmobs and ressources were taken by a red and returned to PvP again.

Anyway this is just a short note to let you know I am still alive. I will post some more information these days. Do not forget to use the search function on the sidebar and have fun with the expansion.

Burning Crusade Installation annoyances.

I started to play MMORPG's with Asheron's Call and I always love the international flair, when meeting players from other countries. The idea alone to only play with German players never appealed to me – it feels like a limit in the multicultural environment of an MMORPG. Of course I played World of Warcraft on an English Server with an English Client that I had to download from questionable ressources.

Why is Blizzard so restrictive to us European players? You can download the US-Client officially, the Korean one but not the European ones, why is that?

Related to this I just encountered another issue. I do no longer have my original World of Warcraft CD's and used only the install that I downloaded to avoid the issues that were always a problem for players using the ELP English Language Pack. Issues ingame, the files using multiple times harddisk space and Addons not working properly were enough to force me away from the ELP

Now I wanted to install the Burning Crusade bought from the store here but it refused to install because it requires a German Client! Having no German Client at Hand I am having some issues right now. The German stores here have no English Clients and I am screwed.

I was hoping my original WoW would upgrade to Burning Crusade, or I was able to upgrade my beta to full, but it is not working. I do not know if it is a try to make it more difficult for illegal versions of World of Warcraft and open World of Warcraft Servers.

So I need to find a German World of Warcraft Client (yikes) or an English Version of the Crusade Beta.

I just do not understand Blizzard there, shouldn't they be happy about each person downloading the client? With Blizzards Peer-to-Peer Solution to hte Bandwidth it is not even their traffic and it is far from customer friendly …

Burning Crusade has started.

I think I have never seen as much World of Warcraft Players as this morning in the electronic store. Maybe it was the horror from the initial launch of Word of Warcraft where the Box was sold out for weeks to come that drove all those people in the electronic store.

Actually I wanted to go to a midnight sale, but without internet this was not rally of any use. Fortunatley the new internet line was connected already at 9:00 this morning and I was able to be at the store when it opened. I have not seen so many pale faces and strange people as I have seen this morning … just to realize that I am one of them … haha

Client is downloading the patch and I will be online again soon.

I just read the news that the Media Markt in Cologne Germany was overrun last midnight. There were so many customers pushing to get into the mall that the glassdoors broke and 2 customers were injured. Probably too many orcs or cowmen pushing from the back.

Burning Crusade approaching

Well now its the last days before the Burning Crusade. Blizzard states that You may want to reactivate Your Accounts before the January 16th 2007, because it is most likely that the Account Management Servers will be unreachable with all the players that want to upgrade their Account to Burning Crusade.

Here in Germany I see no big hype about the coming of the expansion. The Markets seem well prepared, most players I know preordered the game online and hope for a fast delivery on the 16th. Since I somehow failed to preorder I started checking the local stores for the Expansion Burning Crusade. A big chain of German Electronic Stores "Media Markt" here in Mainz ordered 800 copies. You can already buy a packacge of the Expansion now and then change it on the 16th for the real Box.

I have failed to find, yet a store around Mainz, Bad Kreuznach, Bingen, Wiesbaden (the German Area where I live) that will offer a midnight sale for WoW, or a store that will let me have the box on the 15th, like that great Store in Duesseldorf that helped me at the launch of World of Warcraft.

Another issue is, that I am still lacking Internet. I just got my new login information and password, the hardware but the line is not, yet connected. This is the reason I am writing here now. Currently I am surfing via Cell Phone, but its much too unstable to actually play World of Warcraft. There is a lot of packet loss and interruptions and I am giving the UMTS Card away today.

I hope I will be back at the 16th with a stable, working Deutsche Telekom connection and a brandnew copy of Burning Crusade in my hands. Take care and good luck with your own copy.
